These technical drawings were prepared by Trevor McTavish as a reference for all models of Navion. Since the Navion debuted in 1946, there have been no accurate technical drawings prepared by any known artist. Ironically, the most accurate diagram was supplied in the 1950-vintage COMET model kit, in which the builder had to carve a Navion from a block of wood.

Every effort has been made to create as accurate and informative 3-view diagram as possible. Because of options, and changes incorporated during production, each diagram represents one specific aircraft based on photographs. Changes incorporated after the reference photo was taken were not included. If you spot a mistake, or would like to correct, or add information to any of these diagrams, please contact the webmaster via the email link on the main page.

I would like to thank Ken McTavish for his extensive collection of Navion information, manuals, photographs, brochures, etc. Since most of the Navion's history has not been recorded, it was through these items that I was able to determine changes and variations between models and production years. Richard Wiskar provided unlimited access to his NAvion (NAV-4-515), Rolant Covert for access to his D-16 (TTN-33) and Ken McTavish and his D-16A (TTN-61). Thomas Epperson provided measurements off his Camair 480 (1-065). I'd also like to thank Scott McTavish for details of the original boarding step, Richard Buchanan for the immense amount of information he shared on the Model 72 (NAV-4-1860B), Bill Lattimer and the L-17 paint information he'd posted on the L-17.org website, Fred Garcia for information on the Camair, and Alf Wong, who was able to provide information on the late Lloyd Garner's Riley D-16 (NAV-4-680), which he reached with help from Carol Tedder.
