Darius Aibara's Lindberg Navion
1/48th scale

Darius started by sanding off the raised detail from the 50 year old model kit, then scribed the panel lines back into the plastic.

He then built a new interior from scratch using plastic, sprue and wire.

Underneath the airplane, small hinges and aileron counter balances, which he made from wire and plastic card.

The canopy was formed by vacuforming clear plastic over the Lindberg canopy, which Darius removed from the model.

The canopy fixed and blended into the fuselage and the whole model sprayed with Halfords white primer followed by a couple coats of Johnson's Clear. Undercarriage doors and gear legs were scratchbuilt from bits in the spares box. The replacement wheels are from a True Details set for the A-37 and the propeller was from a Czech Models Grumman Goose that will be receiving Aeroclub three-bladers at some future date.

Finally, Darius finished the model by adding civil markings, which he made using a deskjet printer and Testors' decal kit.
